My birth-place, a small village Rožňavské Bystré, is situated seven kilometers west from Rožňava in picturesque corner of Rožňavská kotlina (Rožňava´s hollow). From "Hvara" - how countrymen use to call Plešivecká planina (Plešivec´s plateau) - you wil see not just the village but also its east surroundings.

There are especially smaller house along the road from Rožňava to Štítnik, but at this picture in the middle you can see also a part of the Cultural house. On the right from the road there is a grocery.

Nearly the same look, but during the winter. Here you can see the not used shopping center. In the past you could see an old house of the chief of the mine, vilch is situated at the upper end of the village. The mine is closed now. On the right you can see the post-office - on this place my native house was situated. It was called "U Sklepe".

There are many miners´house along the road to the upper end of the village.

The same look, but during the winter and some years later...

This is the look I could have when as a small boy I used to watch from my parents´house. On the right you can see a part of a house which was called "U Skalinu". In the middle there is the seat of fire-brigade.

A look at one of the former farm with a "gang" which is the space in the front of the house. In the past you could see carriages with horses except the cars from present-day.

This is a look at the neighbour´s walnut-tree in the winter. The house called "U Majäre" was the home of Ondrej Tomko - Majärík. The next house is the one of Ďuro Sedlák.

9) This was a common look in the past - a carriage with horses. The man on the car is my father´s cousin Jano "U Petra" from the village Honce. The man on the road is deceased Peter Ujházy.

My compatriot Ondrej Gajdoš by skiing under Plešivská planina (Plešivec´s plateau). In the background you can see Śpády, Stráne and Mních.

There is the evangelic church in the middle of the village. In the years 1855 - 1858 the parson was Pavol Dobšinský, the famous collector of Slovak fairy-tales.

Some people still have these old fire-places in their kitchens.

The picture of the highway through the middle of the village. In front of the old limetrees stood the house of my grandparents. In the background you can see a part of a house of old school and also cinema.

The football players from Rožňavské Bystré..
